Frankfurt: You Goethe Your Way

The bustling city of Frankfurt is one of Germany’s thriving business centers. Frankfurt is considered Germany’s premier industrial and manufacturing city. There are more than two thousand factories on the banks of Frankfurt’s Main River. The Rothschild family began their banking empire in the city by opening their first bank here. Along with being a manufacturing mecca, the city is also Germany’s largest banking city.

The city, because of the many industries located here, is home to many trade fairs and festivals. Messe Frankfurt, the city’s fairgrounds, hosts cooking fairs, car shows, textile fairs, and many more events through the year. These festivals and fairs bring millions of visitors to the fair city of Frankfurt.

goethe house

Goethe was born in Frankfurt in the 18th century. Many visitors come to the city to visit his childhood home which has been turned into a museum and repository of his works. The house has been refurbished but retains its 18th century décor and charm. The library and many other rooms in the house are open to the public. The museum has a large collection of the works of Goethe. The Frankfurter Goethe Museum is built next to the house and on display many manuscripts, poems, and painting by and about the famous man who called Frankfurt home.

Visitors to Frankfurt will find many things to enjoy no matter when they visit. Along with the many trade festivals and fairs, and the homage paid to Goethe, the city celebrates its rich history with tours of many beautiful old buildings and landmarks. Have a Goethe time while visiting this lovely city.
